Nakamura wins 60th Bullet Brawl title

GM Hikaru Nakamura captured his 60th Bullet Brawl title on Saturday with a dominant performance. He scored 178 points to finish 15 points ahead of GM Oleksandr Bortnyk.

Nakamura rebounded from a rare loss the previous week by starting with an 18.5/19 score among 175 titled players. He defeated three grandmasters and five international masters during the two-hour arena.

Bortnyk mounted a challenge with an 11-game unbeaten streak and briefly ended Nakamura's run. Despite positive results in their later matches, Nakamura maintained a lead that proved decisive.

Nakamura received $400 for first place. Bortnyk earned $250, GM Jeffery Xiong took $150 for third, and IM Goutham Krishna received $100. IM Meri Arabidze claimed the $100 prize for best woman.

Nakamura described the win as important during his Kick stream, noting it was not a perfect game but a victory nonetheless. The next Bullet Brawl is scheduled for July 4 at 12 p.m. ET.
