The Nasarawa State Government has announced a minor cabinet reshuffle involving six commissioners. The move aims to strengthen governance structures as the administration nears the end of its tenure.
The Secretary to the State Government, Labaran Shuaibu Magaji, SAN, disclosed the changes on Wednesday after a State Executive Council meeting in Lafia. The affected ministries are Works, Women Affairs, Information, Lands, Science and Technology, and Security and Other Sundry Matters.
Magaji emphasised that the decision did not stem from poor performance. He stated that the council appreciated the outgoing commissioners' contributions and would consider them for other assignments.
“The affected commissioners have been appreciated for their efficiency and hard work while in office. The adjustment is not a reflection of underperformance but a deliberate move to strengthen governance structures and bring in fresh energy,” he said.
At the same meeting, council members discussed ways to improve internally generated revenue by leveraging opportunities from lithium processing companies in the state.
