Disney unveiled new footage from 'The Devil Wears Prada 2' during its CinemaCon presentation in Las Vegas on Thursday. The sequel reunites Meryl Streep, Anne Hathaway, Emily Blunt and Stanley Tucci in their original roles. The film is set to hit theaters on May 1.
Twenty years after the 2006 hit, Meryl Streep returns as Miranda Priestly, Anne Hathaway as Andy Sachs, Emily Blunt as Emily Charlton, and Stanley Tucci as Nigel Kipling. The footage, shown exclusively to CinemaCon attendees, depicts Miranda sharply critiquing her staff during a meeting over a failed photo shoot. Miranda quips, “The intention was to be dull and listless? … The models were encouraged to mill around like starving goats in the parking lot of a methadone clinic in New Jersey?” One staffer responds, “Well, I wouldn’t say that was the intention,” while another interjects, “You can’t say that!” Hathaway's Andy appears as backup navigating the modern media landscape amid a Runway magazine scandal and the print industry's decline. Andy takes on the role of features editor to assist Miranda. The sequel brings back director David Frankel and writer Aline Brosh McKenna, alongside new cast members including Kenneth Branagh, Simone Ashley, Justin Theroux, Lucy Liu, Patrick Brammall, Caleb Hearon, Helen J. Shen, Pauline Chalamet, B.J. Novak and Conrad Ricamora. Tracie Thoms and Tibor Feldman reprise Lily and Irv. The story draws from Lauren Weisberger’s 2003 novel, following Andy's demanding job at Runway. Wendy Finerman produces, with Michael Bederman, Karen Rosenfelt and McKenna as executive producers.
