Canadian center Noah Philp has spoken about his decision to step away from hockey during the 2023/24 season. The move came after a strong AHL rookie year and surprised many in North America.

Philp left the sport entirely instead of signing a new contract. He said he needed to focus on life outside hockey and spent the time traveling to gain new perspectives. According to the player the break gave him a different outlook on things.
