Pertalite sample tests meet government specifications

Tests on Pertalite samples from East Java fuel stations show compliance with government standards, despite reports of motorcycles misfiring after refueling. Lemigas and the Directorate General of Oil and Gas will continue further analysis. Pertamina Patra Niaga has responded swiftly by opening complaint posts.

Cahyo Setyo Wibowo, Coordinator of Product Application Testing at Lemigas under the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, stated that his team has collected Pertalite samples from several fuel stations in East Java for laboratory testing. This testing follows public reports and on-site inspections involving Pertamina Patra Niaga and the Directorate General of Oil and Gas (Ditjen Migas).

Lemigas and Ditjen Migas will continue analysis until all samples are examined, including if similar reports emerge in other regions. Initial test results indicate that the samples are legally 'on specification,' meaning they comply with the government standards for Pertalite products, as per SK DDN Migas Number 486 of 2017.

"Direct monitoring was conducted jointly and followed up with samples sent to Lemigas. Up to today, the results obtained are legally called on specification, or in accordance with the specifications set by the government for the Pertalite product type. This refers to SK DDN Migas Number 486 of 2017," Cahyo said in Surabaya, quoted Saturday (November 1, 2025).

Pertamina Patra Niaga's President Director, Mars Ega Legowo Putra, expressed appreciation for public attention and reaffirmed the company's commitment to addressing the fuel contamination issue. The company has opened complaint posts at several fuel stations and conducted checks at nearly 300 distribution points in East Java.

"Regarding the contamination issue with Pertalite, we are giving serious attention to avoid causing anxiety and losses to the public. Allow us to continue improving and enhancing services so that the Pertamina we love becomes an energy home for all Indonesian people," Mars Ega said.

In the fuel distribution process, Pertamina and fuel stations must adhere to strict standard operating procedures to maintain fuel quality, with firm actions against any violations.
