The PGA Tour has introduced Tourcast Range, a new interactive 3D feature allowing fans to track players' driving range sessions at The Players Championship. Debuting this week at TPC Sawgrass, the tool provides detailed shot data and visualizations. It forms part of the Tour's Fan Forward initiative to enhance fan access and insights.
The PGA Tour announced on Monday the launch of Tourcast Range ahead of The Players Championship, set for this week at TPC Sawgrass. This innovative feature offers an interactive 3D experience on PGATOUR.COM and the PGA Tour app, enabling fans to follow their favorite players during range sessions.
Powered by ShotLink technology from CDW, Tourcast Range captures every swing taken on the range. Viewers can access visualizations of recorded shots in a dynamic range environment, including ball-flight data such as carry distance, ball speed, trajectory, apex, curve, launch angles, and landing angles. Each session includes a 3D trace, a full scatterplot, total balls hit, longest drive, and a distance breakdown to show how players warm up.
Sessions will be recorded from Monday through Sunday and archived for later viewing, incorporating tournament and year-to-date ShotLink statistics to provide context on players' current form. While debuting at The Players, the feature will expand to the six remaining Signature Events and the FedExCup Playoffs.
This addition stems from the PGA Tour's Fan Forward initiative, aimed at serving a growing fan base with more access to previously unavailable aspects of the game. Users can explore Tourcast Range via the leaderboard page on the PGA Tour's digital platforms.
