The Pittsburgh Steelers have been named as a possible destination for veteran offensive lineman Mekhi Becton, who remains unsigned after his release from the Los Angeles Chargers.
Bleacher Report’s Moe Moton identified the Steelers as one potential suitor for Becton earlier this week. The 6-7, 363-pound guard was let go by the Chargers this offseason following a two-year contract signed after his time with the Philadelphia Eagles.
Becton started 14 of 15 games for Los Angeles last season but dealt with knee, hand, and concussion issues. He graded at 35.7 overall according to Pro Football Focus after posting a 75.3 mark during the Eagles’ 2024 Super Bowl-winning campaign.
The Steelers added depth to their offensive line through the draft and by signing a veteran familiar with new head coach Mike McCarthy’s system. Questions remain at right guard, where Spencer Anderson and Brock Hoffman are expected to compete.
Becton’s extensive injury history dates back to his time with the New York Jets, though he has shown he can contribute when healthy as a run blocker and interior presence.
