The Mandalorian & Grogu: New cast details and 2026 release confirmed

Following the trailer's debut, Lucasfilm has confirmed more details for the Star Wars film The Mandalorian and Grogu, starring Pedro Pascal as Din Djarin and Grogu. Set for May 22, 2026 theaters, it continues the Disney+ series in a post-Empire era.

Building on the first trailer released in January, The Mandalorian and Grogu advances the story of bounty hunter Din Djarin (Pedro Pascal) and his apprentice Grogu after the Empire's fall, with Imperial remnants threatening the New Republic.

Directed and co-written by Jon Favreau, the film is produced by Favreau, Kathleen Kennedy, and Dave Filoni, now Lucasfilm co-president. Filoni told Empire magazine this ushers in 'a completely different era of Star Wars,' beyond the Skywalker saga.

Joining Pascal and Grogu are Sigourney Weaver as Ward, Jeremy Allen White as Rotta the Hutt, and Garazeb “Zeb” Orrelios from Rebels, marking his live-action big-screen debut. New to the cast from the trailer announcement: Jonny Coyne as an Imperial warlord. Series regulars like The Armorer and Peli Motto are not expected to return.

This kicks off a new slate of Star Wars theatrical releases, including Shawn Levy's 2027 film with Ryan Gosling, a Rey story with Daisy Ridley, and a Mandalorian-verse crossover. Catch up on The Mandalorian seasons 1-3 on Disney+.
