He raised visibility concerns with the chair umpire before the suspension at 2-2 in the decider, as darkness fell on the outdoor clay court. Conditions did not improve, leading officials to postpone the match until Wednesday. The resumption marks the final first-round contest to complete, with favorable weather expected. Tsitsipas spoke ahead of the tournament about adapting to Munich's cold conditions. “It’s a new place for me. I’ve never had the opportunity to play here. I’m used to the warm weather in Barcelona. In recent years I’ve played there and done quite well. I received a nice invitation to come and play here. I thought it would be a cold place even before packing my bags, and I wasn’t too wrong,” he said in a press conference. His 2026 season has seen early exits in Adelaide, Australian Open, Rotterdam, Qatar Open, Dubai, Indian Wells, Miami, and Monte Carlo Masters, dropping him 31 spots in the rankings from the year's start.
