Utah man charged with trying to strangle wife

A Utah man is accused of attempting to strangle his wife during a domestic incident last week. Aaron Ray Thomas, 27, faces charges of attempted murder, aggravated kidnapping and reckless endangerment. The attack allegedly occurred at the couple's home in Tooele County on May 7.

Police responded to the home after the woman called 911. According to an arrest affidavit, Thomas gripped her neck and head with both hands while twisting violently and saying, 'I hope you die' and 'Why won't you die?' Officers observed red marks on her neck, and she told them she feared for her life. She alleged that Thomas tried to stop her from leaving by jumping behind her car as she attempted to drive away.
