West Java MBG workers protest SPPG closure during school holidays

The Serikat Pekerja MBG Jabar protested the National Nutrition Agency decision to halt SPPG kitchen operations during school holidays and threatened a demonstration in Jakarta on 29 June 2026.

Hundreds of volunteers and SPPG partners from various areas in West Java and Banten gathered at Jalan Leuwipanjang in Bandung on Monday 22 June 2026. They argued that the policy conflicts with the MBG program's focus on pregnant women, nursing mothers and toddlers.

Muhammad Yusuf Miharja, an SPPG kitchen field assistant in Bandung district, said the operational halt directly affects food distribution to priority groups. "When schools are on holiday, distribution for those groups is also stopped. This is what we question," he said.

The consolidation participants stated they will stage a demonstration in Jakarta on 29 June 2026 if the policy is not reviewed.
