The Armani/Archivio project has unveiled its second phase with a capsule collection of 13 archival designs set for release in early May. Silvana Armani and Leo Dell’Orco are continuing Giorgio Armani’s legacy following his death in September 2025. The collection reproduces pieces from 1979 to 1994, photographed by Eli Russell Linnetz.
Giorgio Armani established the Armani/Archivio project ahead of his label’s 50th anniversary. The first phase digitized over 200 collections spanning 50 years and 30,000 pieces into a public online library. It also featured a traveling exhibition of selected items from 1987 to 2016, starting at the brand’s Venice boutique, with some archival pieces available for purchase. Silvana Armani and Leo Dell’Orco now oversee the initiative, emphasizing timeless designs that endure. Leo Dell’Orco stated, “Giorgio was not nostalgic and did not like looking back, but he was also aware of the value of his own journey—this is why he wanted this bridge between past and future to exist.” Silvana Armani added to Vogue, “I believe there is nothing more radical than classics, because resisting the passage of time is, in fashion, a nearly revolutionary act.” The new capsule faithfully recreates 13 designs from collections between 1979 and 1994. ERL founder Eli Russell Linnetz shot the campaign and commented, “Mr. Armani is one of the greatest artists of our time, whose enduring legacy changed the way we live our lives every day and what we aspire to become.” Linnetz also noted, “These Archivio pieces feel as alive today as the day they were made because he designed his work to be eternally impactful.”
