Avatar Aang: The Last Airbender sets limited theater release

The animated film Avatar Aang: The Last Airbender will screen in select movie theaters in Los Angeles and New York for one week as an awards-qualifying run. It will debut on Paramount+ on July 25. The theatrical screenings are scheduled from July 24 to 30.

Three showtimes per day are planned at the AMC Burbank Town Center 6 in Los Angeles and the AMC Empire 25 in Manhattan. Tickets go on sale July 16 at 9am ET.

A screening is also set for San Diego Comic-Con on July 24. The move signals that Paramount will likely campaign the film for next year’s Oscar for best animated feature.

Avatar Aang: The Last Airbender is the first project from Avatar Studios, launched at Paramount in 2021. It stars Eric Nam as Aang, Dave Bautista as Tagah, Jessica Matten as Katara, Román Zaragoza as Sokka, Steven Yeun as Zuko and Dionne Quan as Toph. Lauren Montgomery directed the film.
