Berliner wins 120 million eurojackpot
A Berliner has won the 120 million euro Eurojackpot and presented himself calmly at the lottery company. Advisor Lutz Trabalski describes the winner as relaxed and advises a step-by-step approach. It is the fourth time such a super prize has been won in Germany.
The winner, a man aged between 30 and 60, reported to the Berlin Lottery Company's headquarters on Tuesday. He had made an appointment beforehand and appeared composed, almost relaxed, as grand prize advisor Lutz Trabalski told the German Press Agency: «The man had registered beforehand, made an appointment, and when he arrived, he was totally composed - he even seemed almost relaxed».
The Berliner had submitted nine tips worth 19 euros in a single play. The draw took place on September 23 in Helsinki. The winner has not yet revealed his plans for the money. Trabalski advises him not to let himself be stressed and to proceed «step by step»: The money will first be transferred to an account, after which he can solicit offers and decide.
Trabalski, who has advised over 100 million-dollar winners in more than 20 years, knows various reactions: Many are euphoric, others paralyzed. A particularly moving experience was a man who wanted to trade his nearly 20 million euros for his terminally ill wife's health. Another winner in a wheelchair radiated joy of life and dreamed of a trip to the Amazon: «He came right away with a backpack full of ideas about what he wanted to do».
The advisor sees himself as a «driving instructor for lottery winners», accompanying them up to the payout: «I am a driving instructor for lottery winners because a driving instructor accompanies until the exam.» The counseling always adapts to the individual person, regardless of the prize amount. It is the fourth time in Germany and the second in Berlin that 120 million euros have been won – the odds are 1 in 140 million.
