The Sahra Wagenknecht Alliance wants to stage two public duels between Sahra Wagenknecht and Alice Weidel ahead of state elections.
The BSW party plans to weaken the firewall against the AfD. It is offering AfD lead candidate Alice Weidel two public debates with BSW chair Sahra Wagenknecht.
At the same time, BSW is advocating for changing majorities in eastern German state parliaments. This could also include involvement of the AfD.
The announcement was made on 30 June 2026, a few months before upcoming state elections in several eastern German states.
