Chinese modder builds all-in-one console with PS5, Xbox and Switch 2

A hardware enthusiast in China has engineered a custom triangular gaming device that integrates a PlayStation 5, Xbox and Nintendo Switch 2 into a single unit. The invention, dubbed the Ningtendo PXBOX 5, allows seamless switching between consoles with a button press. Inspired by Apple's 2013 Mac Pro design, it addresses the hassle of managing multiple gaming machines.

The Ningtendo PXBOX 5 emerged from the workshop of 小宁子 XNZ, a Chinese tech expert, who sought to eliminate the need to manually power on and off separate consoles for exclusive games. As reported by Kotaku and first noted by Tom's Hardware, this homemade mega console features a striking triangular enclosure reminiscent of the 2013 Apple Mac Pro, often called the 'trash can' model due to its cylindrical shape—though XNZ adapted it into a triangular form to accommodate the three disassembled systems.

Inside, the device houses the PlayStation 5, Xbox and Switch 2, cooled by a fan at the base. To craft the custom triangular heatsink affordably, XNZ employed lost-wax casting, a traditional technique where a wax or plastic model is coated in heat-resistant material, melted out, and replaced with molten metal that solidifies into the final shape.

Functionality is straightforward yet limited: a power supply supports only one console in active play at a time, with the others idling. A prominent button on top toggles the HDMI output, enabling quick swaps without additional hardware. While impressive in its ingenuity, the setup may not suit everyone, as simpler alternatives like individual consoles paired with a remote HDMI switcher exist at lower cost and effort.

XNZ's creation highlights ongoing innovation in personal gaming hardware, blending commercial components into a unified experience amid evolving console ecosystems.
