Country star Cody Johnson headlined Stagecoach 2026 on Friday with a surprise guest appearance by Boyz II Men. The group joined him for their 1994 hit 'On Bended Knee' during his set in Indio, California. Festival-goers swayed to the nostalgic R&B ballad.
Cody Johnson, the 38-year-old country singer, took the main stage at Stagecoach 2026 on April 24 in Indio, California, for his debut headlining performance. He began a cover of Boyz II Men's 'On Bended Knee' before Nathan Morris, Wanyá Morris, and Shawn Stockman joined him onstage. The 1994 hit from the group's album II topped the Billboard Hot 100 for six weeks, drawing cheers and nostalgia from the crowd as they swayed along. Johnson recently broke attendance records at the Houston Rodeo and hails from small-town Texas near the Trinity River in Sebastopol. Boyz II Men had performed a similar crossover earlier this year, joining Brett Young for 'In Case You Didn’t Know' at the Listening Room's 20th anniversary in Nashville. Johnson announced his upcoming album Banks of the Trinity, set for release on June 26 through COJO Music and Warner Records Nashville. 'On this album, I wanted to tell the story about my childhood,' Johnson said. 'When I heard the song “Banks of the Trinity” for the first time, it was like this portrait showed in my head of memories that I had honestly forgotten. It just took me back home to Sebastopol, Texas, where I grew up on the Trinity River.' The album follows his 2023 release Leather, named album of the year at the 2024 CMA Awards. Stagecoach 2026 continues with Lainey Wilson headlining Saturday and Post Malone closing Sunday.
