Double Fine announces April 23 release for pottery brawler Kiln

Double Fine, the studio behind Psychonauts and Keeper, has revealed a release date for its multiplayer online party brawler Kiln. The game launches on April 23 across Xbox Series X/S, Xbox on PC, Xbox Cloud, PlayStation 5 and Steam, with day-one availability on Xbox Game Pass Ultimate.

Double Fine announced Kiln's release date in a statement covered by Eurogamer. First revealed in January, Kiln introduces a pottery-themed twist to the multiplayer online party brawler genre. Players sculpt ceramic creations on a pottery wheel that become their battle bodies in online arenas with teams of colourful spirits. The official description states: 'Create your pot, grab your friends, and join a team of colourful spirits who face off against one another in online arenas, where the ceramic creations you sculpt on a pottery wheel become the bodies you bring into battle.' Pot shapes influence attributes and playstyles, such as size and form—options include plates, jugs, cups or bowls—each offering unique abilities and attacks. Prior to launch, an open beta runs on Steam from April 9 to 11, with sign-ups available via Double Fine. The game supports Xbox Series X/S, Xbox on PC, Xbox Cloud, PlayStation 5 and Steam platforms. Eurogamer noted the studio's recent title Keeper as a 'surprisingly shapeshifting adventure,' which received a five-star review.
