Ethiopia's National Election Board has received 47 formal complaints following last week's national elections. Of these, 31 came from political parties and 16 from independent candidates.
National Election Board chairwoman Melatwork Hailu stated that the complaints are being examined according to the law and institutional procedures. The board has established a committee of legal experts to handle the review process. Complaints were collected through operation desks, political parties and observers desks, as well as hotlines 7555 and 6412. The board reported removing administrative bodies that interfered at polling stations, dismissing violators from their positions, and closing some stations. The board said it will publicly announce final decisions once investigations conclude.
