Remedy Entertainment has released the free Rogue Protocol update for FBC: Firebreak on January 19, 2026, introducing a new roguelite game mode called Endless Shift. The update also features weapon inspection animations, new cosmetics, a limited-time Double XP event, and numerous bug fixes. This marks the second major free content drop for the co-op shooter.
The Rogue Protocol update, version 1.008.001 on PlayStation 5, 1.8.1.0 on Xbox Series X|S and PC, arrived on January 19, 2026, bringing significant new content to FBC: Firebreak. At its core is Endless Shift, a roguelite mode emphasizing escalating waves of enemies in distorted zones of the Oldest House infected by the Hiss. As described by game director Mike Gayatta, "Firebreakers risk their lives with each deployment but never has that risk been so extreme as it is in Endless Shift, the most dangerous (and most important) work a Firebreaker can do." Players descend into abandoned areas, clearing waves while collecting Corruption currency to purchase Enhancements, tools, neutralizers, grenades, and weapons during shop phases between rounds. These Enhancements—unique, leveled, or stackable—allow for dynamic builds, with some temporarily carrying over to standard Crisis modes. The mode supports solo play, matchmaking, or private parties and is accessed via the main menu's Play → Endless Shift option.
Endless Shift unfolds in closed arenas with scarce resources: one limited healing shower, no ammo dispensers (ammo drops from enemies only), and revival mechanics where downed players respawn if a teammate survives the wave. Weapons unlock gradually—starting with SMG, Double Barrel Shotgun, or Revolver in round 1, progressing to heavier options like Scattergun by round 19. Players can reroll shop choices for increasing Corruption costs.
Additional features include weapon inspection animations triggered by reloading a full magazine, new cosmetics such as the Nahti and Ranger Armor Sets (three variations each), sprays like Moptical Illusion and Hold Your Fire, and exotic helmets including Biker, Errant, and Hypnotist. Objective randomizations enhance certain Crises: killing Leeches in Ground Control, clearing Sticky note nests in Paper Chase, and eliminating Mold Walkers in Outbreak. Improvements cover updated visuals for Freeze, Healing, and Black Rock Grenades, a revamped Crisis Board for better planning, faster Trace acquisition, and merged cosmetic requisitions.
A Double XP event doubles all gains from January 23 to 26, starting at 10am PT. The patch addresses extensive bugs across gameplay (e.g., fixing Piggy Bank Augment damage), weapons (e.g., Swivel Cannon targeting), enemies, objectives, UI (e.g., downed player health bars), multiplayer connectivity, and stability, including crashes on Xbox and PC.
This update builds on FBC: Firebreak's co-op foundation, offering high-risk survival challenges and replayability without additional cost.
