Florida caregiver charged with neglecting double amputee

A 41-year-old man in Clearwater, Florida, faces charges of neglect after allegedly failing to care for a double amputee who requires round-the-clock attention. Police arrested Bryan Fain following a welfare check at his home.

Officers responded to a tip on Monday after the victim contacted a friend about the alleged mistreatment. They found the woman in urine-soaked diapers and bedding at the residence on Whitney Drive.

The victim told authorities she had not been bathed for several weeks. Her last bath involved a garden hose on the back porch.

Paramedics took her to a hospital where doctors identified multiple bedsores and rashes. Fain, identified as the sole caregiver, was taken to Pinellas County Jail on a $10,000 bond.
