A 27-year-old Florida man faces federal charges after allegedly sending death threats against President Donald Trump to the White House website. Ryan Brown of Crescent City is accused of making the threats in online messages sent in April and May.
Federal prosecutors say Brown sent messages to whitehouse.gov vowing to kill the president "in cold blood" and to "blow the White House up." One message, dated April 16, stated he would carry out the act within a week.
Brown was indicted by a grand jury on two counts of threatening the president and taken into custody. He has pleaded not guilty and remains in federal custody after failing to secure a third-party custodian for pretrial release.
His next court appearance is scheduled for July 14, with a trial set for early August in the Middle District of Florida. If convicted, he could face up to five years in prison on each count.
