A former Masinde Muliro University of Science and Technology employee appeared in court on Tuesday facing charges of forging academic documents to secure employment. The Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission brought the case before the Kakamega Anti-Corruption Court.
The suspect was arrested and arraigned at the Kakamega Law Courts on 12 May 2026. She faced charges including forgery, uttering a false document, deceiving a principal and fraudulent acquisition of public property.
EACC stated that the woman allegedly forged a Diploma certificate in Community Health Nursing from Kenya Medical Training College, a Nursing Certificate from the Nursing Council and a KCSE certificate from Matende Secondary School. The charge sheet indicated she received Ksh7,584,574 in salaries and benefits between 2015 and 2023.
The accused denied the charges and was released on cash bail of Ksh500,000 or a bond of Ksh1 million with a surety of the same amount. The case will be mentioned on 28 May 2026 for pre-trial directions at the Kakamega Anti-Corruption Court.
