Court orders Linet Toto to pay former worker nearly Sh1 million

The Employment and Labour Court has ordered Bomet Woman Representative Linet Chepkorir Toto to pay her former employee nearly Sh1 million for unlawful dismissal.

The court awarded Kipkirui Dominic Mutai Sh990,110 plus 14 percent annual interest. Mutai had worked as deputy county manager in Toto’s office since October 2022.

Problems began in March 2023 when Mutai received threats from Toto’s husband. He reported the matter at Bomet police station.

In April 2023 office keys were taken from him and he was barred from his workplace without notice or a disciplinary hearing. The court said the dismissal violated employment law.
