Frente Amplio concluded its first Ideological Congress on Sunday by reaffirming its identity as a socialist party. President Constanza Martínez highlighted the need to also represent SMEs and cooperatives.
On Sunday, June 28, Frente Amplio closed its first Ideological Congress after three months of work. The meeting was attended by 207 delegates at the former Congress building and the CUT headquarters.
Constanza Martínez stated that inequality, the climate crisis and wealth concentration are consequences of a model that prioritizes profits over people. The party also included feminism, human rights, Artificial Intelligence and ecologism among its main axes.
Martínez added that Frente Amplio seeks to represent workers, small business owners and cooperatives. The group also criticized the government's tax reform and defended former minister Nicolás Grau ahead of the constitutional accusation vote scheduled for Tuesday.
