The Fundación Casa Hogar Divino Niño in Neiva is preparing for its third annual caravan on Sunday, July 19, the first without Padre Jorge Lorenzo Escandón, who died six months ago.
Armando Pineda and María del Socorro Trujillo now lead the foundation that houses 28 elderly residents. Pineda recalled the plans: “This July 19 we are going to do the caravan, as you wanted. The third one, remember? We leave from Universidad Surcolombiana, pass by Clínica Medilaser and arrive here”.
Miguel Casallas González, 72 and a resident for three years, highlighted the founder’s legacy: “If it had not been for him, this would have been taken away. He, as he was a lawyer, resolved that this belong to a non-profit foundation”.
In addition to the procession with the Divino Niño, a bazaar with meals at 20,000 pesos will be held. The foundation is also running a campaign to restore the sanitary facilities, with a goal of 30 million pesos, of which 6 million have been raised so far.
