Houston police hunt suspect in murder of pregnant woman

Authorities in Houston, Texas, are searching for 24-year-old Kevin Faux, charged with capital murder in the killing of 23-year-old Ashanti Allen and her unborn baby. Allen, who was eight months pregnant, went missing on April 8 and her body was found on April 16 near Chimney Rock Park. The suspect has a prior history of domestic violence against the victim.

Ashanti Allen was last seen alive on April 8 leaving the 8700 block of Main Street in Houston's South Main neighborhood. She was in her mother's vehicle at the time, which police later recovered. The next day, her family received a text from her phone saying she was leaving and not returning, which they found suspicious since all her belongings, including baby items, remained in her apartment. Allen was experiencing a high-risk pregnancy, and her cause of death has not been disclosed, according to the Houston Police Department (HPD). HPD issued a press release this week charging Kevin Faux with capital murder, initially filed as murder before the upgrade. Faux was the father of Allen's unborn child. Allen's body was discovered late on April 16 along Willow Waterhole Bayou near Chimney Rock Park, about six miles southwest of her home. Her family confirmed to KHOU that both she and the baby had died. Allen's father expressed devastation to the station: “Hearing this bad news of my daughter, I cried but my body is now just numb. I don't know what to think anymore. How can you let people do what they do and walk free amongst us.” He added, “I was about to go buy a car seat and stroller. Normal girl, pretty girl, working and trying to live life.” Faux has a documented history of violence against Allen. Court records obtained by KRIV show he was charged in September 2025 with assault-continuous family violence. In February, he pleaded to a misdemeanor assault of a family member, receiving 280 days in jail with 143 days credit and early release. HPD is urging tips on Faux's whereabouts via Homicide Division at 713-308-3600 or Crime Stoppers at 713-222-TIPS.
