Human Rights Watch exposes forced recruitment by TPLF in Tigray

Human Rights Watch reported that the TPLF has been conducting unlawful forced military recruitment in Ethiopia's Tigray region since April.

The organization verified six cases based on interviews with 18 people in the region. The group has been abducting individuals including those under 15 through house-to-house searches and from gold mining sites.

This activity has created widespread fear among residents in Tigray. Human Rights Watch called on the group to stop immediately and release the abducted children.

In addition parents of youths attempting to escape the recruitment have faced detention and harassment.
