A 37-year-old man in Idaho has been charged with three counts of aggravated assault after allegedly pointing a handgun at a group of teenagers during an argument over fireworks at a public park.
Shane Michael Sutton was taken into custody this week in connection with the July 13 incident at McCowin Park in Ammon. Deputies responded around 11 p.m. after reports of a man pointing a gun at people near the pickleball courts.
Court documents state that Sutton yelled at the teens, "I will f—ing kill you," before pulling a handgun from his waistband, racking the slide and aiming it at them. Cellphone video reviewed by investigators reportedly captured the confrontation, including Sutton lifting his shirt to grab the pistol.
Sutton left the park before deputies arrived but was arrested without incident at a nearby gas station. No shots were fired and no injuries occurred. A judge set his bond at $75,000 and scheduled a preliminary hearing for July 28.
Each charge carries a potential sentence of up to five years in prison and a $5,000 fine if convicted.
