James Adams and Robin Turner face charges of homicide concealment and dismembering a human body after the death of Dalewayne Turner in late June. Court documents detail how Adams allegedly stabbed his half-brother during a fight over sports cards before the pair hid the remains.
James Adams, 26, and Robin Turner, 62, are accused in connection with the death of Dalewayne Turner, 38, of Plainfield. According to a criminal complaint, Adams stabbed Dalewayne multiple times on June 21 following a verbal argument about sports cards.
A boater discovered Dalewayne's dismembered arm in Lake Mattoon on June 30. Investigators later recovered additional body parts from the lake along with weights and concrete. The victim's head, neck and torso were found in a basement freezer at the Plainfield home where the three lived.
Adams allegedly told his brother Steven Turner that he killed Dalewayne and said the body was in the freezer. He later told police the act was in self-defense. Both Adams and Robin Turner were taken into custody after surveillance footage and store records linked them to purchases of supplies used to conceal the remains.
