International coffee partners celebrates 25 years supporting farming families

International Coffee Partners marked its 25th anniversary on March 31, 2026, highlighting investments and support for smallholder coffee farmers across 13 countries since its founding in 2001.

International Coffee Partners, a group of seven European coffee companies, announced its 25th anniversary in Hamburg. The partnership formed in 2001 amid a global coffee crisis to aid smallholder farmers. Over 25 years, the members invested 25 million euros in projects reaching more than 125,700 families in 13 countries.

The initiative focuses on sustainable practices, climate resilience, and improved livelihoods. It has supported over 2,700 farmer organizations and trained participants where 22 percent were young farmers and 45 percent women in 2025. Projects run through Hanns R. Neumann Stiftung in nations including Ethiopia, Indonesia, and Tanzania.

Rui Miguel Nabeiro, chair of the steering committee, stated that the group invested in meaningful change by bundling resources. Michael R. Neumann noted the consistent efforts have led to holistic benefits for communities in Africa and elsewhere. The partnership continues its long-term approach amid challenges like falling yields.
