Del Toro, who rides for the world's strongest team, became the first Mexican to reach the podium in cycling's most prestigious race. He secured third place overall behind Tadej Pogačar, widely regarded as the top current cyclist, and Remco Evenepoel, world champion, Vuelta a España winner and Paris 2024 Olympic champion.
The Mexican had already shown his strength by finishing second in the 2025 Giro d'Italia. In this Tour de France edition, Del Toro displayed tactical intelligence by reading the race and fulfilling his team's assigned role, with Pogačar as both teammate and mentor.
