Former Pittsburgh Steelers cornerback Joe Haden shared advice he recently gave to current Steelers corner Joey Porter Jr. during a Tuesday podcast appearance.
Haden said on his Deebo and Joe podcast that Porter has relied heavily on his natural ability and physical size. He encouraged the younger player to study receiver splits and use baiting techniques rather than relying solely on athleticism.
Porter was drafted by the Steelers in the second round in 2023. He showed improvement last season by reducing penalties and not allowing a touchdown.
The 2025 performance has positioned Porter to seek a major contract extension with one year remaining on his current deal. Top cornerbacks can earn over $30 million annually.
