British tennis player Katie Boulter has decided to continue competing under her maiden name on the WTA Tour after marrying Alex de Minaur. The 29-year-old will use her husband's surname only for personal matters. She confirmed the choice shortly after their wedding in Tuscany, Italy, earlier this month.
Boulter updated her name to Katie de Minaur on X but kept her maiden name on Instagram and Facebook, adding the initials KDM to her bio there.
Journalist Ben Rothenberg reported that the change applies only privately. Boulter will retain her original surname in official tournaments, following the approach of Elina Svitolina, who is married to Gael Monfils.
The couple wed days after their Wimbledon campaigns. Boulter lost in the first round to Tyra Caterina Grant, while de Minaur reached the fourth round.
Both players now prepare for the Citi DC Open, where de Minaur faces Stefanos Tsitsipas and Boulter meets Ashlyn Krueger in the opening round.
