Kenyans living in America are mourning the death of Titus Wanjala, aged 43, who died alongside River Cropper in an accident that occurred on July 7.
The car driven by Wanjala lost direction and plunged into a pond in Waukee, Iowa. The Waukee Police Department received a report at 10 p.m. about the submerged vehicle along Manchester Boulevard.
Police officers and firefighters pulled the two from the water but they were pronounced dead at the hospital. Police Chief Chad McCluskey said their hearts are with the families of those who lost their lives.
Neighbors at Stratford Crossing Townhomes set up a memorial and held a vigil on Sunday to honor them. Funeral arrangements are ongoing as the accident investigation continues.
