Racing Bulls driver Liam Lawson has spoken about the difficulties of trusting colleagues in Formula 1 due to team size and internal politics.
Lawson reflected on his two-race stint as Max Verstappen's teammate at Red Bull early in 2025 during an appearance on the High Performance podcast. He described how the scale of modern F1 operations leads to miscommunication and rapid spread of rumors.
"I don't want to specify so much that it's just particularly Red Bull, but it's just how Formula 1 is," Lawson said. "There are so many people in a Formula 1 team... Things get lost in translation between people."
The 24-year-old noted that he wished for better communication during his demotion to Racing Bulls. He added that everyone in the sport prioritizes their own career, making full trust difficult.
"It's very hard to truly trust people. It's very, very hard, honestly," Lawson said. He focuses instead on a small circle of trusted personal contacts.
