The UFO union has called Lufthansa cabin crew to strike on Friday. Affected are all departures from Frankfurt and Munich as well as Lufthansa CityLine flights from nine German airports. The walkout is scheduled from 00:01 to 22:00.
The UFO union announced on Wednesday that Lufthansa cabin crew will strike on Friday. The walkout is set from 00:01 to 22:00 and affects all departures by Deutsche Lufthansa AG from Frankfurt and Munich airports.
Additionally, Lufthansa CityLine cabin staff at nine airports will down tools: Frankfurt, Munich, Hamburg, Bremen, Stuttgart, Cologne, Düsseldorf, Berlin, and Hannover. A large majority voted for the strike in a ballot at the end of March following failed negotiations.
The dispute concerns a new collective agreement for around 19,000 Lufthansa cabin crew members, demanding better shift planning and longer notice periods. For the roughly 800 Lufthansa CityLine employees, whose flight operations are due to end next year and be replaced by Lufthansa City Airlines, a social plan is sought. UFO criticizes Lufthansa for not presenting a negotiable offer.
UFO chairman Joachim Vázquez Bürger said: "This situation could have been avoided – the responsibility lies with Lufthansa, which has not yet managed to present a negotiable offer." He noted that Easter holidays were deliberately excluded to minimize impacts on travelers but expressed regret over possible disruptions during return trips.
