Citlalli Hernández announced that Morena will not repeat the 2024 agreement and will not grant Congress posts to those who lose internal surveys for the 2027 mid-term elections.
Citlalli Hernández, president of Morena’s National Elections Commission, stated on Monday, June 22, that the process for 2027 will differ from 2024. “As there is a recent precedent from 2024, perhaps it is thought that the same rules apply. They do not,” she said at a press conference.
Aspirants registering this week at the World Trade Center in Mexico City must sign a commitment to respect the survey results. Hernández noted that the prior agreement, which benefited Ricardo Monreal, Adán Augusto López and Gerardo Fernández Noroña, was an extraordinary process.
Ariadna Montiel, the party president, said candidates will receive a guide to work in the territory. Registrations follow a schedule starting June 22 and ending June 27.
