Naturgas and Asoenergía urge protection of gas supply in Canacol case

Naturgas and Asoenergía called to guarantee natural gas supply after a Canadian court ruling authorizing Canacol to end contracts early.

The King’s Bench Court of Alberta ruling allows Canacol to terminate gas contracts in Colombia early. The associations clarified that it does not imply automatic or massive termination of the agreements.

Luz Stella Murgas president of Naturgas said it is imperative to resort to mechanisms that can mitigate legal uncertainty. She added that termination of contractual obligations is not the only viable option to protect supply.

Silvana Habib Daza executive director of Asoenergía stated that supply reliability is indispensable for Colombian industry. She noted that any uncertainty affects investment decisions and operational continuity.
