ODM leader Dr Oburu Oginga appeared publicly on May 8, 2026, after a two-week absence, reassuring Kenyans of his safety and good health while revealing plans to revive the party ahead of the 2027 elections.

Dr Oburu Oginga appeared in Kisumu playing golf at the Nyanza Golf Club. He said he had been in Nairobi handling personal matters and returned to Kisumu on Thursday.

He stated that he had not disappeared, been arrested or tortured. He thanked Kenyans for their concern and explained that he had taken a short break while delegating duties to other party leaders.
