Ohio mother pleads guilty to shooting son

Briasha Stroud admitted to attempting to kill her 12-year-old son by shooting him in the head during an incident in Ohio last year.

Stroud pleaded guilty to attempted murder this week in Hamilton County court. The shooting occurred on January 26, 2025, inside a parked car on Glenway Avenue in Deer Park, just northeast of Cincinnati.

Authorities said Stroud shot the boy in the back of the head. Her boyfriend later found her with a chest wound and overdosing on pills. The boy survived the attack but suffered life-changing injuries.

Prosecutors noted that Stroud could face a murder charge if her son dies from the wounds. She is set to be sentenced on July 23 and faces decades in prison.
