Deputies Raúl Soto of the PPD and Daniela Serrano of the PC are analyzing a challenge before the Constitutional Tribunal against the National Reconstruction project pushed by José Antonio Kast's government.
Raúl Soto, head of the PPD caucus, said his sector is studying the legal arguments and political consequences of going to the TC. He clarified that the measure does not seek to force a negotiation and warned that without solid grounds it could turn into a boomerang.
Soto criticized the project as fiscally irresponsible and asked Finance Minister Jorge Quiroz to abandon the logic of ideological battle to promote an economic and social pact. He anticipated that the Senate will toughen the debate.
Daniela Serrano, head of the PC caucus, demanded separating reconstruction measures from tax changes. She stated that her sector will not support a disguised tax reform that, in her view, favors large companies and could mortgage the country's fiscal future for 25 years.
