Orlando Pirates were held to a goalless draw by Durban City and must now win their final match to lift the 2025/2026 Betway Premiership title.
Orlando Pirates hosted Durban City at Orlando Stadium in Soweto on 16 May 2026. The Buccaneers recorded nearly twenty shots with five on target, yet could not break down an ultra-defensive visiting side that failed to register a single attempt at goal.
The result leaves Pirates two points behind defending champions Mamelodi Sundowns, who have already completed their league programme. Pirates must beat Orbit College away on the final weekend of the season to secure their first league title in fourteen years.
Durban City coach Pitso Dladla said after the match: “Most of the time we had to perform defensive duties.” The title race will therefore be decided when Pirates travel to Orbit College next weekend.
