On Sunday, November 30, 2025, Patricia Bullrich formalized her departure from the Ministry of Security with a letter addressed to President Javier Milei. The resignation takes effect on December 1, allowing Bullrich to assume her national senate seat for Buenos Aires province on December 10, a position won in this year's legislative elections.
In the letter, Bullrich stated: “I deeply thank you, Mr. President, for the trust and support to sustain and execute the security and order doctrine that prevails in the country today.” She recalled that two years ago, Milei entrusted her with the mission to “care for Argentines, confront crime decisively, and recover order on the streets.” During her tenure, which she previously held from 2015 to 2019, policies such as the Public Order Protocol, operations in Rosario against drug trafficking, and territorial controls in conflict zones were consolidated.
Bullrich thanked the ministry team for their support in “every operation, every decision, and every battle we fought together for the country.” She assured that from the Senate, she will continue “defending with the same conviction the values we share and the reforms the country needs: strong institutions, law, order, and a country where good Argentines can live and progress in freedom”.
Regarding her successor, Secretary Alejandra Monteoliva, with experience in provincial and national security, Bullrich said: “If there is someone capable of continuing the doctrine that has achieved order in the country today, it is her. Her capacity, experience, and commitment will be essential to deepen the path we have started”.
Bullrich's exit is part of the officialism of La Libertad Avanza's political reorganization, where she is expected to lead the senatorial bloc and advance agendas such as the 2026 Budget during December's extraordinary sessions. The move aims to ensure continuity in a key portfolio for Milei's administration.
