Peacock cancels Ponies after one season

Peacock has canceled the spy thriller Ponies after its first season. The decision ends the series following its eight-episode run.

The show premiered on January 15 and starred Emilia Clarke and Haley Lu Richardson as Bea Grant and Twila Hasbeck. The two women work as secretaries at the American Embassy in 1977 Moscow before becoming CIA operatives after their husbands are killed.

TVLine confirmed the cancellation more than six months after the season aired. Variety first reported the news.

The season one finale left several plot threads open, including a confrontation with a KGB agent at the burning embassy building.
