Police arrest fake TNI member who scammed egg seller in Sumedang

Sumedang Police have arrested Enjang alias Topan (64), who posed as a TNI member to scam an egg seller in Haurgombong Village, Pamulihan District. The suspect ordered 270 kilograms of eggs under the pretext of a bazaar event, causing the victim a loss of Rp750,000. The case gained attention after going viral on social media.

Police arrested the fraud suspect Enjang alias Topan (64) after the case went viral on social media. The incident occurred on April 14, 2026, in Haurgombong Village, Pamulihan District, Sumedang Regency, West Java. The suspect wore full TNI uniform, claimed to be a captain, and ordered 270 kilograms of eggs for a supposed bazaar activity.

The victim was asked to deliver the eggs to the district office, then unload them into the suspect's white Honda HR-V. The suspect directed the victim to meet his alleged wife for ATM payment, but no payment was made, resulting in a Rp750,000 loss.

"The suspect has conducted scams in several areas, pretending to be a TNI member and claiming to hold a bazaar event. After receiving the goods, payment was never made," Sumedang Police Chief AKBP Sandityo Mahardika said on April 29, 2026.

Investigations revealed the suspect also operated in Bandung City, West Bandung, Majalengka, Garut, and Bandung Regency using the same modus operandi.
