Prosecutors have demanded 18 years in prison for Muhammad Kerry Adrianto Riza, son of businessman Riza Chalid, in a case of alleged corruption in the management of crude oil and refinery products at PT Pertamina. The demands include a fine of Rp1 billion and restitution of Rp13.4 trillion. Kerry denies involvement and appeals for justice to President Prabowo Subianto.
On Friday, February 13, 2026, a hearing at the Jakarta Corruption Court featured heavy demands against Muhammad Kerry Adrianto Riza, beneficial owner of PT Navigator Khatulistiwa, also linked to PT Orbit Terminal Merak and PT Jenggal Maritim Nusantara. Prosecutors sought 18 years in prison, a fine of Rp1 billion substitute 190 days in jail, and restitution of Rp13.405.420.003.854 substitute 10 years in prison, for alleged violations of Article 603 in conjunction with Article 20 letter C of the Criminal Code and Article 18 of the Anti-Corruption Law. This is part of a corruption case in the management of crude oil and refinery products at PT Pertamina from 2018-2023, allegedly causing state losses of up to Rp285 trillion overall.
Kerry stated that the demands ignore trial facts, where all witnesses presented by prosecutors confirmed his non-involvement. "This demand against me ignores the trial facts that all witnesses brought in have said that I am not involved in this case," Kerry said after the hearing. He emphasized his business only rents fuel storage facilities and ships to Pertamina, used for 12 years for terminals and transporting oil from West Africa and domestic gas.
Counsel Patra M Zen questioned the fairness of the demands, noting the prosecutors' letter starting with 'for justice' does not reflect it. Patra highlighted that prosecutors quoted Riza Chalid and Irawan Prakoso as evidence, though neither appeared in court. "Then how can it be evidence?" he asked. The legal team believes Kerry and other defendants are innocent and is preparing a defense plea.
Kerry appealed for justice to President Prabowo Subianto, whom he called a wise statesman opposing criminalization. "I beg for justice for me. I really hope that in this situation, President Prabowo Subianto can look at my case clearly and objectively," he said. In the same hearing, other defendants like Riva Siahaan, Maya Kusuma, and Edward Corne were each demanded 14 years in prison with fines and restitution of Rp5 billion.
