Ramaphosa to visit Botswana for bi-national commission

President Cyril Ramaphosa will travel to Botswana from Wednesday until Thursday for a state visit at the invitation of President Duma Boko. The two leaders will co-chair the sixth session of the South Africa-Botswana Bi-National Commission.

The visit comes amid long-standing bilateral ties between the two nations. South Africa remains a key trading partner for Botswana within the Southern African Development Community.

Ramaphosa and Boko plan to sign memoranda of understanding covering water management, energy, tourism and correctional services. Discussions will also address socio-economic matters, political developments, and defence and security cooperation.

As part of the programme, Ramaphosa will tour the Botswana Vaccine Institute, which works on animal diseases including foot and mouth disease. The leaders are also scheduled to attend a business forum aimed at boosting investment and partnerships between Pretoria and Gaborone.
