South Africa and Poland agree to expand economic cooperation

South Africa and Poland have reaffirmed their commitment to international law and expanding economic cooperation during bilateral talks in Pretoria. Polish Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Radoslaw Sikorski described South Africa as a key partner on the continent.

Speaking after the talks, Sikorski praised South Africa’s commitment to the rules-based international order. He said Poland sees South Africa as an anchor of stability in Africa and the place to establish business with the rest of the continent.

Sikorski brought a delegation of Polish business leaders to explore investment opportunities. He noted that investments need to go both ways and called for improved people-to-people contacts.

South African Minister Ronald Lamola welcomed the Polish delegation and highlighted the critical period in global history during which the meeting took place. Sikorski also commented on migration, stating that it can benefit countries if properly managed and that governments must maintain secure borders.
