Robbie Williams, 52, laughed off speculation after a mint fell from his mouth during a live MagentaTV interview at the World Cup final in New Jersey. The singer posted a sarcastic apology on Instagram the next day.
Williams performed the World Cup anthem Desire alongside Nicole Scherzinger and Laura Pausini at the closing ceremony. During the interview a white mint dropped onto his microphone. He picked it up and stuck it to his forehead.
In his Instagram post he wrote: "Just like to apologise for the object that fell onto the microphone yesterday. I was deeply unprofessional, and people are worried about me, but it’s okay ‘cause I have several more." The caption read "Just woke up and feeling…. Mint."
Williams has been open about his 25-year sobriety. Earlier this month he told El País he trusts himself not to relapse despite anxiety.
So… mint condition or just minty fresh drama?
